Unifor Local 2000 is the oldest continuous union in the province. We’re focused on the future, with 800 members who are journalists, designers, programmers, artists, salespeople, mailers, press operators and more. New members are always welcome. You gain from our many decades of defending the rights of people working in the media and other industries.
Our members work primarily in the newspaper and printing industries throughout British Columbia. We also represent a chocolate factory – Purdys Chocolates – which employs about 100 of our members in Vancouver. Our workplaces range from the province’s largest newspapers – The Vancouver Sun and The Province, to dozens of smaller community papers, like the Burnaby NOW and the Tri-City News.
We are reaching out, offering experience and expertise, to people working in video game development, visual effects and animation. Our union can be a powerful voice representing the interests of those who work in these thriving digital media sectors.
